Shoreland Kennels was founded by Sue Mayborne. Pictured to the side holding the ribbons. Sue has been showing and breeding dogs for over 40 years. She began Judging dog events for The American Kennel Club in 1987 and continues to judge today. You can always find her traveling to the next show. Shoreland Kennels isn't a one woman show, the work never ends with dogs so we have a team of great people here to help.
Shoreland Kennels is maintained by Tim Mayborne, Sues loving husband, and a small staff of cleaners, groomers, handlers, and trainers. It takes a village to raise a well rounded happy pup. Dogs see several faces every day from early to late something is always going on here.
Besides having the number one all breed obedience dog in 1989, OTCH Shoreland's Big Harry Deal UDX, many top dogs have come out of Shoreland Kennel. Grand Champion BIS BISS AKC BIS / UKC CH Shoreland's Rock Me HIC "Betty" is one of our top foundation dogs. Other winners include Grand CH, Int'l CH Shoreland's Jailhouse Rock "elvis", MACH/CH Shoreland WingMender MX MXJ "Will", Ecuador Ch Shoreland's Flames Of Fire "Scortch" and AKC Grand CH/CAN CH/Ecuador CH/International CH Shoreland's Ace Of Hearts.
With that many letters we must be doing something right, but its not luck over here at Shoreland its hard work and dedication.
We now focus on Border Collies and Australian Shepherds but we started out with goldens and even though we stopped raising goldens in the late 80's we are still listed in the top 25 kennels in terms of producing major titles.
If you have any questions feel free to contact us. Even if you just want to talk about our past or future winners. You can email us at Shorelandkennel@gmail.com or give us a call.
A responsible breeder can tell you generations behind the dogs you see in their home or kennel. A responsible breeder is someone who is willing to talk to you and answer questions you have, whether you’ve already committed to purchasing a puppy or not. They are there for you and the puppy whether the puppy is 5 months, 5 years or 13 years old.
A responsible breeder does not sell you a puppy; they have you join their family and are available for information, for advice, and, if necessary and something unforeseen happens in your life, they are there to step in for you and take the puppy/adult/senior dog back. A responsible breeder is there before the puppy is conceived, they are there thru all the crazy puppy antics, they are there thru the smiles and the tears. A responsible breeder is the one who planned for a specific breeding, spent the long sleepless night getting the puppies here. A responsible breeder is the one spent days and weeks watching the puppies, training the puppies, making sure the puppies were ready when the time comes to join their new families. - AKC
Everyone here at Shoreland kennels takes this to heart, we want to be the standard that people look to for responsible breeding. We are an AKC breeder of merit. An AKC breeder of merit must demonstrate a commitment to ensure healthy well kept puppies and dogs. This includes health testing and facility checks.
But we are more then just an AKC breeder of merit kennel. Sue and Tim Mayborne have been dedicated to dogs for decades, traveling the world for shows and dogs. Holding numerous titles in countless events the dogs here at Shoreland have competed on every inhabited continent ( sorry we haven't been to Antarctica yet haha). The names of our dogs are known all around the world to south America to china. But put all that aside, would we still be great without all our ribbons and titles. Yes, we are not focused only on showing dogs but also bettering the breed.
Our dogs are breed for structure not just because we want them to do well in the show ring but because a well built dog is a healthy dog. As a breeder we have all our dogs genetically tested and we OFA hips and elbows before breeding. We feel this is vital to producing good dogs. We breed for temperament, temperament is just as important as structure. No one wants a mean or unstable dog, thats why we put personality and temperament at the top of our list. After decades of breeding we have achieved uniquely calm and even tempered dogs. We all have been told how crazy Aussie's and Border Collie's can be, thats simply not the case with ours. They still love to play but they all come with an off switch.
It takes a village to raise a puppy.
Everyone at the Kennel knows that if something breaks Tim will be on the job. Tim does a lot of the heavy lifting around the kennel, literally. He help maintain the Kennel and the grounds as well as fixing anything that breaks. He always has a lot of projects going on, currently its making new puppy boxes and giving the puppy room a well deserved makeover.
Puppies mean pictures, trying to keep up on pictures and social media can be a full time job for anyone. Thats why we have Melissa, along with answering messages and posting on our Facebook she plays with the puppies helping them to be better socialized. Melissa Hopes to start handling soon.
We have a great group of ladies that help us maintain a clean environment for all the dogs. Along with cleaning the dogs get exercise and play.
We love our groomers who help keep the dogs looking like rockstars.
Along with grooming and cleaning we have time set aside for socialization and more play!
